Description
The Sanctuary of Truth — known in Thai as Prasat Satchatham (“castle of philosophy”) — is an extraordinary wooden structure blending temple and palace forms. Conceived by Thai patron Lek Viriyaphant in 1981, it's dedicated to exploring spiritual themes through Eastern religious philosophies, fusing Buddhism, Hinduism, Khmer, Chinese, and Thai traditions in its elaborate carvings Rising 105 meters tall and enclosing about 2,115 m² on 13 hectares, the Sanctuary remains under construction—with scheduled completion pushed to 2025 or later
Architecture & Symbolism
-
Crafted without metal nails, the entire complex is built from teak wood and other hardwoods like Mai Deang, Mai Takien, and Mai Panchaat—featuring individually turned wooden bolts and fastenings.
-
The four main halls represent different themes: Thai, Khmer, Chinese, and Indian iconography. Each embodies spiritual concepts such as the elements, familial bonds, cosmic creator deities, and life’s cycle

The rooftop features a four-faced Brahma statue honouring core figures like father, mother, teacher, and king. Within, halls host figures like Guanyin, cosmic elements, Ganesha, and Bodhisattvas
